Honoring a Fallen Hero

Saturday marks five years since one of our brothers died heroically in the line of duty. On December 3, 2011, Scott Osenenko, a volunteer Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 firefighter, tragically died after rescuing people from a burning mobile home.

Osenenko was one of the first responders and worked for nearly 20 minutes evacuating the residents from the home. After exiting the building, Firefighter Osenenko experienced cardiac distress. He was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital where he was prounounced dead as a result of the injuries he received at the scene.

Fire Chief James Wascom said, “There is no way to adequately say “thank you” to the men and women who give their lives in the line of duty. The best we can do is never forget! Today, we remember and honor Scott for his ultimate sacrifice. We also honor his family and loved ones for their loss.”
