LPFPD4 improves fire rating
Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 (LPFPD4) recently improved its fire rating from a grade of “5” to a “4.” The lower fire rating is a result of an evaluation by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL). It’s an important element used by underwriters to set property insurance rates. All departments in the state are rated on a 1-10 scale, with “a rating of “1” being the best.
“The rating is directly related to the proactive measures we’ve taken over the last two years to better protect the lives and property of Livingston Parish residents,” said Board Chairman Robert Dugas. “We’ve enhanced our manpower and upgraded fire equipment. The men and women in the Department, under the Chief’s leadership, have worked hard to improve our services and capabilities. I have never been prouder.
Nine full time fire-fighters and one full time training officer have been added to the personnel roster.
Livingston residents are urged to contact their insurance agents to determine if they are eligible for lower insurance premiums because of the lower fire rating.
“While improving the fire rating is important, the driving force behind all the recent improvements is our ability to protect lives and property,” said Chief James Wascom. “The department lives and breathes by its motto of Our Family Protecting Your Family.”
