Robert Dugas
Board Chairman

Mr.  Robert Dugas is a native of Livingston Parish and has served Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 Fire since 1984. Robert began as a volunteer firefighter, but for the past six years he has served as, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In his role as Board Chairman, Mr. Dugas guides and advises the Board of Directors, serves as a liaison between the Board and Fire Chief James Wascom, and works to ensure the safety and protection of Livingston Parish residents and the firefighters of District 4.

When asked what the most rewarding part of his job is, Mr. Dugas replied “first and foremost, it is working with extraordinary people who care about serving our community.  I am also proud of how far District 4 has come over the last few years, from improving our fire rating and our apparatus inventory to building new fire stations and improving emergency services. It is rewarding to know that we’re living by our motto – Our Family Protecting Your Family.”

The hardest lesson he’s had to learn is that no matter how diligently you prepare, tragedies can occur any time.  This lesson underscores the critical importance of the work of the district.

Mr. Dugas works as a Construction Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) Manager for a consulting engineer firm in Baton Rouge. In his free time, he Dugas enjoys spending time with his wife, Ann, two sons, and six grandchildren. When he is not volunteering his time for LPFPD4, he also volunteers as a youth football coach (ages 5-12) in Walker.
